faq
What kind of food does this blog focus on?
I like being happy and I like food that makes me happy. Most of my food is simple, easy and uncomplicated. I like using natural whole foods like unrefined sweeteners and whole grains. A good portion of my food is gluten free as my father has been a coeliac since 1985 (as, incidentally, has my boyfriend's mother). And in case it's not obvious, I really like cake.
What camera do you use?
I am living proof that a good camera does not make a good photographer. Early pictures on the blog were taken with my iphone. I quickly upgraded to the most basic Canon DSLR with a 50mm f1.8 lens. In the summer of 2012, I treated myself to a Canon 60D and a 24-105mm f4 lens which I'm still getting to grips with.
I tend to like slightly dull/muted pictures (which is my excuse for slightly underexposing everything). I process all my pictures in Lightroom and often use the VSCO Film toolkit to get a slightly film-like finish.
Do you accept products for review?
As of August 2012, I've decided to focus solely on writing about things that I love and therefore I will no longer be accepting products for review. Everything that I write about here will have been purchased with my own cold hard cash and will be something that I love. On the other hand, I'm always open to hearing about new books/food/places/whatever and will often go out and buy them to see what all the fuss is about!
What's your favourite kitchen tool?
I should say my KitchenAid because a) everyone loves them and b) it cost me a lot of money but I have to say that my vegetable peeler has changed by life.
What's the best movie you've ever seen?
My favourite movies are divided into two kinds. The kind of movie you see and are completely blown away by like The Lives of Others or Requiem for a Dream. And then there are the movies that I watch over and over again and never get bored of like Airplane, Four Weddings & a Funeral and Home Alone. All-time favourite film has to be a toss up between Sister Act and High Fidelity. I love Hitchcock movies too.
What's the worst movie you've ever seen?
My friends and I love terrible movies. I remember a hungover Sunday watching A Boyfriend for Christmas which was particularly terrible. The Beautician and the Beast was another low/high point. Oh, and I really don't like rom-coms much to my boyfriend's delight.
What do you do when you're not blogging?
I work for a forensic accountancy firm. I spend my days investigating and writing about fraud and bribery which is pretty fun really.
Where do you live?
I live in west London with my boyfriend. Apart from a couple of years at university in Cambridge, I've lived in London all my life. Most of my childhood was spent in the leafy suburb of Richmond which I'm hoping I will return to eventually.
