october in a photo a day

Friday, 2 November 2012
Without wanting to wish away my life, I am so glad it's November. I'd had just about enough of October. November is my favourite month of the year by a long way. Firstly (and most importantly) because it's my birthday. I realised the other day that I get more excited about the idea of my birthday than the day itself. This year, I'm determined to carry that excitement right through to my birthday. Much to the annoyance of my friends and family I expect.

Secondly, I like November because it - or the end of it at least - marks the start of the Christmas season. Those sparkly weeks, filled with tinsel and parties, are some of my favourite weeks of the year.

October, in contrast, doesn't really have much going for it. It's a nothing month, squeezes in between the excitement of the new school year and the anticipation of the end of the calendar year.

And on that note, here is my fairly uninspired round up of October in a photo a day. If I keep this up for another few weeks, I'll have a random picture for every day of the year. I'm trying not to think about what I could have used that time for more productively...

where you stood // lunchtime // this happened today
something you read // shadow // i'm thankful for...

light // angle // red
something close up // on the table // landscape

makes you laugh // dinnertime // what you wrote
fruit // made you smile today // letters

4 o'clock // calm // in your town
the view from here // weather // people

listening to // morning // looking back
moon // clothes // whatever you please

I know what you mean. October really isn't that important to me either, but November definitely marks the beginning of Christmas. I was happy to see the Christmas lights up at Regents Street yesterday :) Beautiful pictures!!!

I feel about November how you feel about October. Growing up in Canada October is a month with Thanksgiving and Halloween, so family dinners, parties, pumpkin pie, candy... November on the other hand is dreary. In Sweden the darkness is starting to get intense and there is nary a holiday day until Christmas. I'd happily skip straight from the end of October to the beginning of December. But! I'd probably feel differently if I had a November birthday. Enjoy your month :)

Oh I love October...mainly because it's my wedding anniversary...but also it's the time of year when I can pull out my boots and tights again. But then November does have bonfire night which has a pretty special place in my heart :)

Aww, your dislike for October somehow makes me sad. Which is most ridiculous, I know. I'm happy that your favorite month is here! And hooray for your upcoming birthday. :)

I haven't had much time for Instagram lately so this is a nice post. If I could, I'd like it all!

I love your photos, they remind me of the UK as I live in the USA.
The 'Drop the Dead Donkey' one made me smile as I used to love that program!
Thanks.

Awesome photos! You really inspire me to do photo a day and then I get lazy and never make it through the month. And yes, November is the best! It's the month of Thanksgiving and major shopping for black Friday! :)
