oh i do like to be beside the seaside...

Monday, 17 September 2012
I cannot tell you what a shock to the system it is to be home and back at work. Our flat seems so cramped and dark. Every time one of us turns over in our small double bed, we end up hitting the other in the face. While we were away, we would wake up early without an alarm and enjoy every moment of the morning. Today I couldn't press 'snooze' enough times.

Because I am so grumpy today (and not without good cause) and because I'd like to close my eyes and pretend I'm still on the beach, I'm sharing with you some pictures from out and about in LA.

We were based in Venice, about 10 minutes walk from the beach and just off Abbot Kinney Boulevard, home to some of the best restaurants and coffee shops in the city. A short drive takes you to Santa Monica, one of my favourite places in the whole world and Malibu where you can spend hours driving up and down the coast trying to spot the houses of famous people. To the south, you have the beaches of Orange County with their white sand and sparkling water.

For this ocean-loving girl, it was pretty much perfect.

Gorgeous photos :) I liked the one of the different coloured houses especially. I want to go away too now though! <3

Oh, I feel your pain, it's SO horrible coming back from holiday. On the plus side, we were all at home while you were away and at least you have these gorgeous memories to tide you through the week :-)

Looking forward to seeing what foodie inspiration you'll be taking from your travels!

I am not surprised you feel a little low after spending a great holiday featuring so much good light and colour. A sign of a very good holiday! x

You'll get back into the swing of things before you know it! The post-vacation letdown is always rough. Love the photos!

It's so hard to go back to "regular life" after a big vacation. Looks like you had a great one Kathryn. Happy you enjoyed my side of the coast!

Awesome photos! You just reminded me as to how much I don't take advantage of LA! I think I need to go out more!

I live in the US and would do anything to be back home in London.

Still, I am glad you enjoyed Cali.
